Dial-X is an automated machine builder based out of Albion, IN. Focused on providing world-class custom automated machines and components, Dial-X works with local companies to increase their competitiveness through boosting their manufacturing efficiency. At the end of 2023, Dial-X began a total factory build project with Terra Battery, a new, Albion-based manufacturer of lead acid batteries.
With Terra Battery's vision of a totally automated battery production process in mind, Dial-X got to work. Meticulously designing an automated process, Dial-X worked closely with Terra Battery to ensure their machines were properly optimized to reach their end goal - a lead acid battery that boasts a 30% increase in performance and cycle life.
When Dial-X started this project, they were literally building from scratch—just four walls and a concrete floor. This blank slate allowed them to design a fully automated production line tailored to Terra Battery’s specific needs. The result is a state-of-the-art facility capable of producing high-performance lead acid batteries at scale.
A project of this magnitude requires collaboration with vendors that you can trust. Dial-X has partnered with NEFF Automation for over 10 years to deliver high-quality automation components for their machine builds. On this project, NEFF supplied PHD cylinders, slides, grippers, and other actuators, as well as Piab vacuum systems, components, and Parker tubing. Rick Mavrakis, CEO at Dial-X, worked hand-in-hand with NEFF sales and customer service teams to navigate common project challenges and to ensure it stays on track.
